There are many products on the skincare market that advertise helping your skin. Sometimes packed full of chemicals and words you can’t pronounce, maybe it’s time to go back to basics. This means more natural ingredients to make your skin glow. Not only will you be allowing Mother Nature to work her magic, but these remedies are often budget friendly, being made from simple ingredients you can probably find in your cupboard! Here are a few natural remedies that may help you on your way to better skin.
Honey and Cinnamon Face Mask:
This is a treatment I swear by. Mix together pure honey and cinnamon powder until you form a paste and leave on your face for about 10-15 minutes. It’s as simple as that! It tingles at first and your face may come away looking a little shiny but I’ve found it to work every time. The honey works as a natural antibacterial and moisturising ingredient whilst the cinnamon reduces inflammation and redness. The combination of these two natural ingredients creates a product that can help fade acne scars and moisturise your skin. It’s a natural, cheap, and easy way to revitalise your skin!
Apple Cider Vinegar:
Another cost effective strategy to naturally clear acne, apple cider vinegar is the next miracle of Mother Nature that won’t hit your budget too hard (with some organic bottles costing less than £5!). Like honey, apple cider vinegar contains antibacterial properties that fight the bacteria that cause acne. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties that cool redness and swelling as well as restoring the pH of the skin by balancing the acid. It can be used in a variety of ways depending on how you want to treat your acne. You can dab some on a piece of cotton wool and directly cleanse the affected areas or you could mix one part apple cider vinegar with two parts water, spray on the affected areas, leave to dry for 20 minutes then wash off with water. Alternatively, you could pop two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink it! This helps to boost your immune system from the inside. It’s advised to drink it with a straw, though, as it can damage your tooth enamel.
Baking soda is another cheap and easy way to get rid of acne. It works by drying out the oils in the skin that cause acne and exfoliates to get rid of dead skin cells. The easiest way to use baking soda as a natural remedy is to mix one part baking soda with one part water (with maybe a pinch of lemon juice) and apply it to problem areas. Leave on for about 15 minutes and then wash with warm water. It’s as simple as that!
Remember to always listen to your skin. If any of these treatments don’t feel good or make your skin worse, stop using them!
