Essential oils are useful for a number of things; relaxing, sleeping, digestion (the list goes on!). Oils can be used to maintain health and treat various conditions. The first thing to note is that the extracts can be concentrated and powerful so will need to be diluted with a carrier oil (such as coconut or shea butter). This will allow your skin to reap the benefits of the essential oils without compromising your skin’s health. Here are a few of the essential oils that can help your skin glow!

Lavender
Lavender essential oil is known to be beneficial in many areas. People often drop it onto their pillows to aid a good night’s sleep. This magical little oil (that smells divine) can also help with your skincare. The oil helps heal skin irritations so can be helpful for problematic skin, such as acne-prone skin as it can also relieve redness. Due to its ability to encourage blood circulation, lavender oil can also promote a youthful complexion and leave your skin glowing.
Rose
Rose oil holds anti-inflammatory properties which will sooth red skin and help to heal acne. With its moisturising qualities, rose oil will leave your skin naturally plumped and glowing. It can be used as a natural alternative to hyaluronic acid, commonly found in anti-ageing skincare products, to move your skincare routine away from chemicals and into nature. It helps that it also smells wonderful!

Geranium
Geranium oil is beneficial in many ways. It can improve immunity, regulate hormones, and improve blood circulation. On top of this, adding geranium to your skincare routine can minimise the effects of ageing through its powerful anti-oxidants that repairs skin damage through its promotion of cell renewal. The anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties of the oil also means it is an effective treatment for acne as it deters the growth of bacteria on the skin.
There are many more essential oils that can be used to aid skincare, including tea tree oil (see our previous blog most for more information!). It is important to understand the oil you are using and make sure to always dilute pure botanical oils with a carrier oil before use.
How often would one need to use these essential oils for these benefits?
I would say every day, for at least 4-6 weeks.
